Yoga is an important part of our philosophy and offering. For this reason, we want to offer yoga to more than just the kids we work with, we want to offer it to everyone!
Yoga helps to align the vertebrae, increase flexibility and strengthen muscles and connective tissue. At the same time, internal organs are toned and rejuvenated; the epidermal, digestive, lymphatic, cardiovascular, and pulmonary systems are purified of toxins and waste matter; the nervous and endocrine systems are balanced and toned; and brain cells are nourished and stimulated. The end result is increased mental clarity, emotional stability, and a greater sense of overall well-being. Everyone gains some level of benefit from a Yoga practice. The only requirements are proper instruction and regular practice.
For children, we follow the Yoga for the Special Child method developed by Sonia Sumar. It is a comprehensive program of yoga techniques designed to enhance the natural development of children with special needs. This method of Yoga is gentle and beneficial, safe for babies and children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Autism and other developmental disabilities. The method also provides an effective treatment for children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, ADHD and Learning Disabilities.We regularly host teacher training for Yoga for the Special Child.
